Matthew "Matt" Myette, PT
Matt graduated from Boston University in 1984 with a degree in Physical Therapy and has been in the orthopedic field supporting in/outpatient physical therapy ever since. Matt has extensive training and experience in manual therapy. Highlights of his specialties include: spinal rehabilitation, sports rehabilitation including running & golf injuries, temporomandibular joint (TMJ) syndrome include injury to the teeth or jaw and post-surgical rehabilitation.
Matt co-founded Southern Tier Physical Therapy Associates (STPTA) in 1986 with Todd Mansfield. Subsequently he practiced physical therapy for four years in Boston at Massachusetts General Hospital. Matt returned in 1991 as co-owner and leader of Southern Tier Physical Therapy (STPT) of Binghamton.
Patricia "Pat" Foley, PT
Pat joined STPT of Binghamton in 1992 as co-owner. She grew up in Broome County, is a graduate of SUNY Buffalo, and brings over thirty years of experience as a Physical Therapist to the practice. Pat has served as a guest lecturer/instructor in the senior seminar for the SUNY Broome PTA program. In addition to treatment services for general orthopedic rehabilitation, spine and joint problems and sports injury rehabilitation. Pat has extensive experience in specialty areas including pre/post natal treatment, breast cancer rehabilitation, lymphatic decongestive techniques, vertigo and balance disorders, bowel and bladder dysfunction, incontinence, pelvic pain and status/post prostatectomy.. Pat employs manual techniques (i.e. craniosacral, advanced strain/counterstrain methods and myofascial release) in addition to traditional modalities. She has worked alongside Kate Mikels, PTA since 2008.
Colleen Jayne, PTA
Colleen joined the Southern Tier Physical Therapy of Binghamton Team in 1992 upon graduating from the PTA program at SUNY Broome with an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree. She has worked alongside Matt Myette, PT, since the beginning of her career in 1992. Her professional interests include orthopedic injuries, sports rehabilitation, and Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). Colleen believes in the hands-on team approach that is followed at STPT and has carried that onto the basketball court. She has been the girls' basketball coach at Seton Catholic Central in Binghamton for the past 15 years and counting and has seen much success from year-to-year including taking her team to New York State Champions in 2016/17 and advancing to state final four for the second straight season in an all new Class A division in 2017/18.
John Francis, PTA
John graduated from SUNY Broome with an AAS/PTA degree in 1996. Shortly after graduation, John started working at Southern Tier Physical Therapy of Binghamton alongside Matt Myette, PT. He has a special interest working with core stability and overall/sport-specific strengthening and conditioning. John has continued his interest in health and fitness outside of the clinic. He is a certified Professional Trainer (CProT) a Certified Mat Pilates Instructor (CPI) and a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Federation of Professional Trainers (NFPT). In his time outside of the office, John owns and operates Francis Fitness.
Megan Shofkom, PTA
Megan is a recent 2018 graduate from SUNY Broome with an AAS/PTA degree. She is a new face in the STPT office, working alongside Pat Foley, PT. Megan has a deep passion working in the medical field as she has 4 years’ experience working in Orthopedics, and 9 years’ experience as a Dental Assistant. Her professional interests include manual hands on therapy, and working with the elderly population. During her time as a student, Megan gained hands on experience after spending 4 weeks at STPT for her first clinical affiliation. After which, she spent time gaining experience working with Pediatrics, and in Hospital In-Patient rehabilitation.
John Chandler, PTA
John graduated from SUNY Broome in 2018 with both his his AAS/PTA degree and associates degree in Individual Health Studies. He started working at Southern Tier Physical Therapy of Binghamton under Pat Foley shortly after passing his state boards exam and becoming certified. John is skilled in advancing patient capabilities through therapeutic exercise. He has a passion residing in strength and conditioning with plans to expand his knowledge and experience outside of the clinic.
Terri Smith, PTA
Terri graduated from SUNY Broome's PTA program with an Associate in Applied Science (AAS) degree in 1998. Prior to becoming a PTA, Terri was a Medical Assistant with more than 20 years of experience working in a Family Practice setting. She chose to expand her career into physical therapy and has worked at STPT of Binghamton since 1998 alongside Pat Foley, PT. Terri specializes in women's health services, osteoporosis, Kinesio Taping, exercises for urinary incontinence, and balance rehabilitation. She has spent a great deal of time developing a set of falls risk treatment plans that target balance, coordination and gait training for the older populations who are at a greater risk of experiencing falls.
